'Peculiar Pies Annual Report' by Kathrin Teh (IDEA Grad 2023)

Peculiar Pies was founded as a passion project between two women of colour, and was created with the hope of bringing high-quality experimental pizzas with freshly sourced ingredients to the masses. The pizzas found at Peculiar Pies are not your typical pies, but instead feature exotic flavours from around the world, and include fresh, unconventional ingredients.

I decided to take a more traditional approach for potential shareholders, with some fun elements to spice things up and stay true to the brand’s image, as well as the target young demographic. I chose a limited colour palette for a vintage and artisanal feel, with the red representing pizza sauce and the cream being the batter. The typefaces I used - Traveller and Baskerville - plus the effects applied to the photography, are further meant to reinforce the aforementioned aesthetic.

For the financials, I wanted to do something different from anything else I’ve seen, so I decided to display the content as restaurant receipts, which ended up being the perfect way to convey the perhaps otherwise boring content. In addition, the receipts also allowed me to include all the necessary information required in real financial statements, while still retaining a playful and attractive layout.
