Jennifer Panata (IDEA20) gains RGD Honourable Mention for Placemaking Design
Congratulations to Jennifer Panata (IDEA Grad 2020) for gaining the RGD Honourable Mention for Placemaking Design for her CapU Mental Health promotional poster duo!
“With exam week just around the corner, Capilano University Health Services is looking for a way to encourage students who are struggling with stress, anxiety, or other mental health issues to seek help from on-campus counsellors. The solution was to create a poster duo that turns exam stress into a strange but relatable metaphor — making the issue more approachable to tackle.
The trickiest part of this project was to speak to young people in a candid and relatable way without being preachy. It took me weeks of sketching to finally come up with this idea — much more time than it took to actually execute it in Adobe Photoshop.”
“Many congratulations to all our RGD Award winners and honourable mentions! This year, there were 973 submissions from 462 design students attending 34 post-secondary schools across Canada, so we did exceptionally well!”
