Before becoming a student at IDEA School of design I had no idea what to expect, but I couldn't be happier with the outcome! Things definitely come at your fast in the program and expectations are high but, with the support of fellow classmates and designers things feel a bit more manageable.
Self portrait photography assignment: Since I was a kid I've always felt a connection between art and fashion from the 40’s and 50’s, even today I collect vintage fashion magazines and comic books and love to go antiquing in my free time. I feel like this is definitely a side of my personality not many people know and I wanted to take this opportunity to really go all out!
For this piece I was tasked with creating a logo for a fictional company. I chose to do a company that specialized in dancing shoes for burlesque dancers and the colours were inspired by vintage shoe catalogues.
This was one of my first larger acrylic paintings and I decided to paint a stack of honey-glazed doughnuts because who doesn't like a good ol’ honey-glazed doughnut?
When doing some research for another assignment I stumbled across a lot of strange 50’s Jell-O dishes one of which consisted of lime Jell-O, whipped cream and pineapple and this character is inspired by all the elements of that dessert.
