Sydney Toews (IDEA Grad 2020) wins 2020 ADCC Student Competition Silver Award in Graphic Design with 'ARCH Conference'

Congratulations to Sydney Toews (IDEA Grad 2020) for winning 2020 ADCC Student Competition Silver Award in Graphic Design with 'ARCH Conference'.

ARCH is an international conference that brings archaeology into the 21st century. The goal was to showcase the discipline as an exciting, adapting, modern field — and to change perceptions of it as an ‘outdated career’ to inspire the next generation of workers.

About the Project

The featured artifacts are presented with all their relevant catalogue records and measurements. Its adaptable nature is shown through text that changes orientations and layers with objects to fit its environment. Layouts take inspiration from the strict grids and diagrams used in museum cataloging. The bold colour palette aims to create an exciting contrast with oldworld artifacts and is a modern take on the colours of the Chroma Ruler, a tool used to help photographically document such items.
