Taeyeon Kim wins q30 design Award for Brand Design and Jesse Ellingson gets Honourable Mention for Intent Award for Print Design at RGD's 2017 Student Awards.

IDEA School of Design students Pamella Pinard (Honorable Mentions) and Alice Zeng (Honorable Mention and Merit) both placed in the prestigious 3x3 Illustration Annual contest. Their illustrations are reproduced in the 3x3 Illustration Annual No.14 shipping November 2017. 

The IDEA Design program was represented at Radical Research Summit by Jaden Critchlow, Sam Evans, Natalie Heaman, Ashley Loo, Rae Maher, Rhian Tate and Cynthia Vo. Read their comments.

4th year IDEA School of Design student Juliana Vieira was given the opportunity to illustrate a map of Capilano University's campus and a lot of creative freedom!

This summer, Ian Kaart (designer and project lead) with Cynthia Tran Vo (co-designer and painting) designed a mural for Vancouver Mural Festival. A total of 17 IDEA School of Design students spread over 2018, 2019, and 2020 graduating classes helped paint the mural. 2016 grad Maria Centola has landed an interesting summer job – hand painting a salmon sculpture for the City of Coquitlam's 125th anniversary.

Alberta born Cree artist, George Littlechild came to spend the morning with us as part 2 of a wonderful collaboration with aboriginal students and faculty at Capilano University. He asked the class to use their intuition to create an image, or symbol that represented them: something that would touch their souls and bring them comfort.

Grad 2015 promises to be a great show, with some amazing design work and more than our usual number of illustration grads. Show runs April 13 - 17, 2015 at Harbour Centre in Vancouver.

IDEA students were lucky to be invited to see the incredibly talented Ola Volo, a Canadian illustrator from Kazakhstan, talk about her work which helps to shape and beautify outdoor spaces in Vancouver.
